Ok, I finally located one of these Holy Grail dishes (white Birdview solid) today.
Saw it about 2yrs ago but didn't note exactly where it was, and never could find it again, lol, until today. By accident. but I didn't stop to talk to the homeowner yet.
In reading all these threads about the motor-problems with Birdview H-H drives, I'm wondering now if it would be worth all that trouble. Can these dishes be fitted with a regular linear actuator without a lot of fabricating? And 2nd question, can these H-H drives be found any more, re-worked or is that the reason everyone is doing their own??

say WHAAAAT ? !

If you don't go get it, I'll come whoop the stuffin' outta you ! -

I've read all the posts on the Birds in the BUD department, and don't think there's anything beyond our ability to fix.
So long as the dish is still accurate.
Even JayElEm with his Bird which'd been converted to a planter (the feed legs cut off) could be brought back to life!

. . . and I'm sure the local lizards will love you for the big white smooth surface to sun themselves on ! - :up

That would be sacrilege!

Seem perfectly serviceable to me, from what I've seen.

Anole sun-porches

I guess you're right Anole, it's about 25mi north, out in the sticks like me. Not sure if one would fit well on a S10 but I'm sure I could work out something. If the dish is going to be available, that is.
And of course the local anole population would love one, haha. I'll check on it later in the week, too busy till Friday.

Your S10 bed should be real close to the same size as my Toyota's, with a few 2x4s to make a crate it will fit just fine (this was an 8 1/2 footer). Mine travelled over 200 miles like that, didn't even know it was there most of the time.

Git'r done. ;)

I have a friend with a big pickup and a utility trailer he hauls a tractor on, I imagine I can get
it if this dish is going to be available. I'm kinda getting itchy now lol, I love diggin holes and pouring concrete!

The solid I brought home on a std utility trailer. The perf we slid off into the 6 1/2 ft bed of a 1/2 ton Chevy w/o any issues. Both were mounted at the right height to do this.
I found for both that if you put studs in the bottom two holes of the mount, remove the rest of the bolts, position your transport to where when you lift the lower edge, pulling the studs out of the holes in the mount, it makes a managable slide right along the edge rails into your tranport bed, trailer whatever. Three people would be ideal, but if two fat, old 55-60 yr old f*rts can do it, anyone can.......lol.
It does sit and tie down nicely on the edge of the bed and tailgate, but was too close to the back glass for my comfort. Luckily we didnt have far to go and not very long at highway speed.
Congrats Turbo! you know you better get that thing home, Anole is gonna flog you if you dont!.....and you know he wants.........
p-i-c-t-u-r-e-s............lol
