I noticed family is 29.99 a month for 40 channels and prefered choice (international) is 32.99 a month

depends on if they both have all the channels you want or not; everyone's idea of value is different to me.

The prefered choice (international) is much better. Especially it is now on special rate for a year! In addition, you get a HD DVR free! I had this package installed a week ago.

All come down to what channels you want ....
International, I have no need for them, don't speak or read or understand any other languages ...
