There may very well be a post about this, but I'm new and not exactly sure where to find anything. I recently purchased a winegard carryout gm-5000 anser, and a dish vip211z. We decided to go with the Americas top 200 for sports and kids shows. I am currently set up to receive the 72° satellite, but seem to be missing channels, including local channels. I am currently in Conway, Arkansas for work, and will soon be in Searcy, AR. I may only be able to get certain channels with certain satellites, I really don't know much about it. Trying to learn, but as you all know, there seems to be quite a bit of info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, unfortunately I didn't do my homework well enough prior to buying the anser. I have DirecTV at home and just grabbed the box and took off. Then found out I needed a multi switch for the genie and supposedly still wouldn't get hd. Long story short, I'm learning by a series of poorly reseached items.

If you can stand getting your locals off a regular antenna, you could hook that up to the OTA dongle that is optional for the 211z and get your locals that way. Once scanned in, and the satellite antenna on 72, you should be able to get all channels to which you subscribe.

Dish VIP211k will not properly scan and add an OTA Channel(s)?
