Best Deals These Days for New Subscribers?

Sorry if this is a repeat topic, I looked back through the last 5-6 pages of topics and couldn't find a thread that dealt specifically with deals for new subscribers.

Basically, a co-worker of mine is looking to go to DirecTV and wants to know if there's any good deals out there still. He's looking at the Plus HD DVR package and they're currently offering a free HD DVR which is all he really needs right now.

So I found the AAA discount for $10/month for 2 years at Road, Travel, and Financial Services - AAA and we can obviously get the refer-a-friend, but is that about the best you can do these days?

I know I just asked for a year free of Showtime when I subscribed and got it - do you know if there's any similar deals that he could take advantage of?
