Best Config

Hello, I am hoping someone can advise me on what would be the best dish configuration for my current location.

I live in the 54729 zip code, and "Moved" to 55106. I have a Dish 1000, and a VIP622 receiver. After I "Moved" I started experiencing rain fade on my locals in even the slightest rain/snow, and ss is 50-60
Can I gain anything by:

A. Going to a 2 dish setup
B. Going to a Dish 1000.2
C. Going to a Dish 1000+

A dedicated dish for 129 would be better for most people, but the only real fix is for Dish to replace the poor, wounded Echostar 5 satellite at 129 with one that works, and is designed to operate at that location.

A gets my vote. 24" separate dish for 129.

I put up a 24" Winegard. I've been real happy with it. I'm located about 200 miles south of you.

I copied this out of the EKB on dbstalk. It's for 61.5, but the same theory applies for 129:

Using a DP Twin on a D500 to get 61.5°

1. Set the skew of the D500 at 90 degrees so that the arm is NOT tilted.
2. Connect the DP Twin DIRECTLY to a receiver.
3. Cover the 110° LNB of the DP Twin with a piece of tin foil or thick cloth.
4. Set the elevation. Tune the dish.
5. Once you have the signal locked, connect the dish to your equipment. Remove the cover.
6. Run the check switch. It SHOULD show 4 locations with 1 as an X for signal and NC for sat (assuming you are connecting to a DP34. A DP21 should only “see” the 119° side to begin with).

By the way, you'll need to disconnect the coax from your 129 LNB to the Dish 1000 DPP Twin, and run the coax over from the 2nd dish to that same connection on the DPP Twin in step #5.

OK, got my new 24" dish peaked. My ss on 129 went from mid 50's to mid 90's, ss on the 110, 119 are at upper 90's.

What I have is a 2" pole in the ground (I rent). The new dish came with a universal mount thats flat. I mounted it to my existing pole with muffler clamps (they come with a clamping ring thats arched on the inside and flat on the outside). Just needed to drill some larger holes in the universal mount plate. This is REALLY solid.
