Well, I've had it a few days now and I'm VERY impressed. I wanted to calibrate it and watch a few movies before posting my thoughts. The W1000 is a nice upgrade from my Mits. HD1000. It is a 1080p, DLP projector, so of course it's an upgrade in resolution. It struck me immediately that the W1000 is brighter and sharper than the HD1000. It is VERY sharp. It is also very quiet in low power mode, a little quieter than the HD1000. The black levels are darker than the HD1000. Not a huge difference, but noticeable. There are also numerous options for those to like to tweak the image. A lot of them I haven't even touched. Is it worth $999? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!!!

Congrats on the upgrade! Home Theater just keeps getting better all the time.

Congrates. I looked at that one but at the time I needed lens shift so that ruled out many dlp's in my price range.

I am sure you will enjoy it!!

W1000

Well, I'm returning the W1000. I should have waited a little longer before posting my thoughts. The image is great, but the rainbows are not. I first thought it was because the W1000 is much brighter than my HD1000, so I gave it a little more time. Then I called Benq and it turns out the color wheel speed is only 2X, not 4X like my HD1000 was. Their website describes the color wheel as "high speed". Yeah right. Anyway, I have the new Mits. HC3800 on the way.

The Epson I have is 4k hours in echo mode. I am sure I will be buying a new bulb well before the 4k.

Like I said, 3-4 years.:)

I still like my Pioneer Elite but a movie or sporting event is not the same after watching on a fp.:)

That's great, but what does it have to do with the Benq W1000 projector?
