BellSouth Corp. will offer its customers DirecTV Inc. direct-broadcast satellite service for at least another five years under a marketing-contract extension announced Tuesday.
Under the new agreement, BellSouth will continue to offer DirecTV as part of its service bundles. The regional Bell operating company has been offering the satellite service since 2004, and it has attracted more than 523,000 customers.
The new agreement will also add a new sales channel for its “FastAccess” digital-subscriber-line service, giving customers the ability to subscribe to the high-speed-Internet service through DirecTV.
"Our market-leading brands and services will continue to deliver tremendous value and leading technology solutions to consumers and enable both companies to continue to compete more aggressively and take market share from cable providers,” DirecTV sales and service president John Suranyi said.
