Hi All,
I have an older 3100 expressvu receiver that I'm trying to connect to a DirecTV dish in the US (Virginia). I can get Nimiq91 great (95% or better) but no guide, channels etc, and no Nimiq82. The dish is HD, whereas the receiver is not, so I'm wondering if this is causing a problem. I have 4 cables coming out of the dish that are merged into two, only one of which I can plug into the receiver (doesn't seem to matter which one I plug...I still get a strong Nimiq91 signal and no Nimiq82). When I activated the receiver in Canada, it worked fine like this. The only difference was the dish I tested it with had an SW44 switch, so I'm wondering if this is the problem.
I'm a bit new to this so sorry if this isnt' entirely clear. Any ideas whether the switch will solve my problems, or if there is some other inherent incompatibility with the DirecTV dish and expressvu?
Thanks for any help you can give.

OK so looking through some more threads here it seems like I'm not going to get Nimiq82 in the US anyway. So what I can't understand is why I don't get any channels when I connect the LNB locked on Nimiq91 directly to the receiver. It just stalls on 'please standby for the satellite signal'.
Any ideas?

The receiver was activated in Canada just before I left (a month ago).

The dish has 3 LNBFs (model AU9) and is called 'slimline'. It's an eliptical dish.

Can you recommend a dish I could acquire locally that would be likely to work? I have a non-HD receiver so a non-HD dish is fine.

Thanks a lot for the help!

There's the issue. The slimline is designed basically for DirecTV

easiest thing to do is find an old Directv dish with the single LNB...that would work the easiest

Find a cheap Dish500 and be done with it. You won't be able to use the same mast, but you should be able to see both satellites.

The stack plan for the DIRECTV dish is all wrong for a DISH/Bell receiver.
