hmm... all the Sunday Ticket channels removed.
I wonder if the compromising of Nagra 2 means the NFL will not let Expressvu have Sunday Ticket this year.

Lots of rumors floating around including that Expressvu will be swapping out all HD receivers/PVRs next year to MPEG4 to allievate the ROM 102 hacking problem.

Of course the real solution is for Expressvu to change to NDS just like VIASAT has already done.

Excuse my ignorance on the "dark side" but I had been told by a Satelliteguys.us staff member who I still believe is pretty darn smart that the Nagra2 hole was closed several weeks ago and all that FTA equipment is not working any longer.

Are you saying that is not the case:confused:

And what is NDS and VIASAT?

I gather from this post it isn't the case anymore:

Considering he's asking for a new bin because he's shut down, I don't think that makes it hacked again does it? Let's face it, the guy wasn't playing with a full deck anyway.

ROM 102 totally hacked. Some FTA brands are up and running with the card in a card reader - this card is garbage.

NDS is controlled by Rupert - system used by DirecTV. They converted over VIASAT on the fly.

Bell has lost their government protection in Canada as a result of the change of government. Videotron is leaving no stone unturned in the preparation of their civil case against Bell in Quebec court. They know that they will have to counter Bell's "We are victims too" defense. The fact is that Kudelski introduced Nagra 2 knowing that the bulk of their security features had already been compromised by the Russian mob a year earlier. Videotron has to find out how much Bell knew and when.

Well, lol, most of what you said is right over my head. ROM 102, NDS, VIASat...What all the Videotron stuff is all about....I have no idea, lol.

I guess bottom line is you are telling me that Nagra2 is still hacked and that the satelliteguys.us staff member that said it wasnt was mistaken.

Edit...ok..following your link I think that Viasat is a European Scandinavian Service and NDS is what Directv and Viasat uses...2 down....several more to figure out, lol.

Now figure wtf you were talking about Bell and Videotron.

.
Also, since Dish no longer makes 811 & 942's (EV 6100 & 9200), then Expressvu will have no choice but to migrate to MPEG 4 recievers at some point, even if they don't use the MPEG 4 coding (ala PSK).

VideoTron is a cable company in Quebec
each type of card in a unit has a "ROM" name. The newest yellow ones are 102

95% of the people stealing Dish/Bell are doing it via a FTA box and an illegal software upgrade which is down, gone, kaput and has been for 3 weeks to a month. There is no "fix" for them.

The other 5% are doing it the same way they use to do it with DirecTv..via a card (like the ones in the Dish/Bell boxes), some type of programmer (which costs a fair amount of money) and a card reader (since most FTA boxes don't have card slots) and a software upgrade.

So is it hacked? yes
Is it hacked as easily as it was? no
was that guy in the thread in question playing with a full deck? no :)

Thanks for the explanation.

The stealers can't see HD (unless they have a HD box which there is only one FTA box that does HD)

But it does suck if NFL ST gets yanked from EVu due to this...I think the channels will be back before regular season :)

If the HD was all on 82W, why was the ST HD stuff on 91W?

And another dumb observation - last year 91W was the crippled bird. Right now that bird(s)'s transponders are smoking - at least here - as I have noted...lowest level is 84 where I could never get 1/2 of them last year.

So couldn't one assume that maybe the are moving the ST stuff to the crippled bird that it was on last year to cut down on USA coverage as well as get the HD over to 82W?

EDIT: Just checked the BEV website for ST info and it still has the end info from last years season - saying to check back for early bird specials. Though it might be a website oversight, that doesn't bode well for ST as kickoff is only weeks away.

HDTV

The HD channels have always been on 82 (even the NFL ST ones). The SD ones are on 91.

They should have pricing soon. I know both took until Mid August to have pricing last year

I must admit I am shocked they would wait this late to announce prices and subs for ST. Most of the time they try to get people to commit early on so they have guarantees.

Those channel assignments must be for ExpressVu only to get the feeds from CBS/Fox. The normal channels for consumers are in the 400's.

I think the reason they do is because of competition. They wait until one provider publishes the price and then everyone else falls into place (which is dumb since both EVu & SC I think were the same price)
