Recently the hospital where I work put in a Direct system to the Surgery dept. There are 3 recievers, one in each of the sleep rooms and in a office. Everything has been working well up until today. I got back from a long weekend and turned on the reciever to see that I had reception except for a number of cchannels where it had the 771 code, finding signal. I decided to do a reset, hard and soft and I suddenly didn't have any stations. I then tried a "Info and Test" on the tuner only to find out that the tuner showed "OK" but acquired at 0%. The other recievers in the dept are OK. I was wondering if this showed a "bad" tuner? I went thru a complete system reset to only get to the 9 of 9 and it hangup on acquiring signal........ The signal strenghths during this show in the 90s. I am not sure what the problem is. Thanks
PS, the reciever is a standard, nothing fancy

Call Directv and report message 771 to the automated system. Use the account phone number. It will send a signal down to the receivers to reset them. If that does not work, you could have a receiver going bad or a bad coax line. Try moving the box to another room and see how it acts. It does sound like the receiver when analyzing the transponders is showing signal strengths? Any who, try the directv forced reset and we can see how it goes from there.

I would try moving one receiver to this room that is not working and see what happens then, take then potentially bad one and hook it up to a different run and see if it works there, IF it does not, then I would suspect the receiver.

Dude I said that. Just for that, I am correcting your typos. Jimbo was seconding my suggestion. :p

It's suddenly working!!!! I don't know what happened but I guess constantly resetting it finally worked. Thanks

If it does it again, I would move it to another room and see if it acts up. If it does in another room, the receiver is on a slippery slide down.

See what the power of suggestion can do..... Oh never mind, glad its at least working despite not knowing what the problem was.

Actually I cheat. I use Firefox and it automatically shows typos and allows you to correct them. Such a great browser especially for posting on forums.
