Hi yall! It has been around 6 months since I was this forum.
Got myself hitched back in May, finally moved into my (well, OUR) house that I had been rebuilding for over 15 years. Still have a long way to go on it, tho.
My wife wanted DISH Net so we on it
Now I am working on restoring my 4DTV 922 system again. Thank goodness the battery still held up since the 922 was in limbo for over 4 months, no electricity to it all that time. I am going to use the 7.5 foot Odum wire mesh dish with the DMX741 LNBF.
Right now I am on G4 16 (Shepard Chapel) which I get a excellent picture. I got my work cut out realigning the dish and the DMX741, and remapping the 4DTV and putting my Ultra back to work.
Oh boy... :(
I got to research all over again to get this back going again.
Any shortcuts? LOL

For subs the only option is Programmng Center/Skyvision - still enough available to keep me subbed.

Check out the Map Master sticky on this site, will help you get a bit more from the ol' girl

Thanks Trinidex. As far as I see, some of the maps are intact, and the ID info is still intact. The clock need to be reset with a hit from Skyvision.

IMG_0614.JPGIMG_0616.JPGI am using an 8 ft stationary dish aimed and peaked at 99W (G16) with an offset LNBF to get the signal for my DSR922 from 105W. I get plenty of signal for the DSR922 (EBNO >9). If you have extra LNBF, you might try the same. Photo attached. The dual LNBF is for 99W, the other is for 105W.

I like that setup migold! I got to find a satellite chart so I can try to get the arc set up on my dish. Got to find the X4 satellite so I can get my maps redone plus to reset the clock on the 922.

I have a mesh 10 foot dish I want to use to replace the 7 1/2 footer. My new wife ain't too thrilled with the FTA hobby, especially me having my 8 foot dish waiting for me to start up. You see, the one I am working on now is for my master bedroom. The 8 foot dish is for the living room. I have a 920 receiver for that one, along with one of my FTA receivers. I am using the Ultra for my bed room setup. Too bad my wife ain't like Dee Ann, LOL. Is she still doing FTA?

Dee defected to Dish for a while, but she's found some 10'? commercial fixed dishes, and plans to harvest 'em.
See her recent thread for more info.

As for your new wife, I hope she knew your hobby before saying, "I do."
And isn't out to convert ya.
We had a thread on that subject recently, too ;)

You can find a sat chart at the mapmaster site,
4dtv map_master ,#7 in the Zip files.X4/W5 is AMC18@105'west,6 degrees west of G4.Do your channels on X4 go to 941 ?If so you should be all set there,if it only goes to 856 you'll need new maps,it will still work but the channels will be wrong. In either case put it on X4 941 or 856 (if that's as high as it goes) and slowly work your way west till you here music and you should be there. If you have ku hooked to the 4DTV disconnect it,you don't need it and you run the risk of over loading the memory if you hit the Canadian sats.
Unless it's a relatively new Motorola 922 you should change the battery SOON.

Great! Thank you, Waylew.
LOL, Anole. That was the thread about me getting married back in May. I believe my wife will get over it. I hope...

No, Stargaze, not yet. I've yet to read up on that. I don't have a adapter for it.
I got lucky yesterday at the dish! When I first got the 7 1/2 foot dish, I put it on the pole, hook up all the wiring to a old satellite IRD and coast it to the 99 degree satellite and had the Shepherd Chapel channel pop in, then tighten the bolts to keep it at bay. Yesterday, I hooked up the cables and wiring from dish to my bedroom. I went to the 8 ft dish, looked at the direction the dish mount is set, took pictures of it with my iphone 4 phone, and went back to the other dish and adjusted the best way according to the pictures. I came out good!!! I never adjusted the angles of the mount since I got the dish from my neighbor. Still need to fine tune the dish a little bit. I measured the old Chaparral feed horn (from the mouth to the scalar ring), set the DMX 741 to what I measured with and slap it on the dish, hoping I don't have to do alot of adjusting. So far it worked fine!

And when I reached the W5 satellite, my time set itself quickly! So, after 4 months of no electricity to the 922, nothing was messed up at all. Now, I need to find my AZBox Ultra and scan some FTA channels! Right now I got the R6 cable fron the DMX 741 LNBF to the 922. I got to figure out now how to tie in the Ultra to the 922. Any suggestions? I will be using the built in switch on the 741 for C and Ku switching.

Use the AZBox Loop-Out to feed the 922.
Just leave the AZBox in Standby when using the 922.

It's been awhile, but the 920 model required you to set the LNB (LNBF) setting to "Rotate 90" so you would get proper polarity when using an LNBF.

Lak, I tried the loop out from the Ultra to the 922. I'm on G16. Before I put the Ultra to the system, I can get the Shepherd Chapel, and very clear. When I installed the Ultra, I had the cable from the LNBF to the input of the Ultra and used a short cable from the loop to the 922. When I blindscanned the satellite and got the transponders, I got channels that is Russian, not the channels listed in TheList. Plus I cannot get the Shephard Chapel at all, just a black screen. I tried the SLEEP mode of the Ultra (I guess it the same as Standby mode you mentioned). Still a black screen. Am I missing a step?
