Finally got one of my Primestars up after getting some trees removed. I can probably see from 83 to 95west now. Gonna point at 91 for now. Everything is connected and seems to be working. Now I can program it & scan the satellite as soon as I find the box with all the remotes to the FTA boxes! :O

Welcome back to the hobby!!
Remind me again which receiver you do have.

I still have a Coolsat 8000, an AzBox Elite HD, and a Pansat 9200. (The Pansat won't come on anymore though) I'm probably way behind the times with these, but I still don't know of any new ones that do 4:2:2.

Not sure. Right before we moved, it wouldn't turn on any more. I was starting to pack stuff up so I really didn't mess with it.

sounds like possibly a fuse (just thinking out loud here)

but you will probably want to invest in a DVB-S2 blind scan receiver ;)

Found the remotes...SUCCESS! I got ABC News One at 99%. The new HD feeds on there stutter terribly (not sure why, got 99% signal) ...but the SD ones work fine. :)

Sounds like a power supply issue, maybe a bad cap or two. If you take the cover off, look for some swelled up electrolytic caps in/near the power supply. Switching power supplies will whine like that when they can't fully start.

Soooo, for some reason my Coolsat 8000 glitches badly on any HD feed now. I dug out my AzBox Elite and although it is working, it makes a loud buzzing noise from inside the case, then a pop sound, it rebooted itself and still works, but I think it's time for a new receiver. Which one do you all recommend?
