I am new to all this and am confused. Lyngsat lists a channel called B-Mania TV on EChoStar 9 at 121 W, as being FTA. The other places that list FTA both ku and C-band do not list this channel... Is it capable of being picked up and if Ku with a FTA LNB or the Dish/Direct type LNB?

I am trying to decide how much I want to invest in "playing with satellite" stuff. I love the thrill of seeing something new that most of the US isn't watching cause they belong to one of those big names. It's like the olden days when computers were new, and it was like an adventure learning what you could do with one.

Oh, right now I have a Pansat 2700, with a few Dish/Direct type dishes. I was crushed when I found out that I couldn't just put a motor on one to get FTA, that it would take a new dish and LNB. Now, I have to figure where to put what little money I have.

Also, Black Belt TV on Amazonas 61 W, was wondering about that FTA station too. I am in central US.

Thanks.....

Black Belt TV is definatly FTA!

B-Mania is Digicipher 2 and on C-Band (Need at least a 6' dish)

Ku-Band signals have a 5 digit Freq.

C-Band signals have a 4 digit Freq.

This may help with lyngsat...............

Thanks

Thanks for your very quick response, PSB. Knowing about the frequencies really clears things up. I am hoping my friend will find me a C-band dish this weekend. Seems like people are constantly getting rid of these dishes, until you decide you really want one. :D

Cheating

Is it wrong of me to get ahold of a friend that has one of those expensive satellite finder meters to help me point the dish, instead of doing it the old fashion way? :D

And the next dish that goes up gets a motor. Don't think I enjoy the dish pointing part of this fun hobby. :D

But then again, when a friend and I was out there trying to point an E* dish at 97W, that might be the reason we got frustrated not receiving anything. I should have logged onto this forum 2 months ago, instead of today. I might have learned there was a difference in the Ku LNBs.

I want to say that the valuable info that I see posted by PSB, Iceberg, and a few others is the reason that I logged onto this forum. Thanks for all your time helping others!!!!

Its not wrong to get help from others (with expensive satellite finders) in this hobby!

And its GREAT to have you here!
