2478 units of AzAmerica FTAs and 1472 units of AzBox were destroyed and properly disposed on April 18, 2012 in Asuncion, Paraguay, as a result of the successful collaboration between DTVLA and Nagravision in Latin America.

There main business is piracy in other parts of the world, only reason they became a bit popluar in North America is because by fluke there chip was able to display 4:2:2 video. It does not take a rocket scientist to read through there obvious parent company using the name Opensat as in opening up encrypted programming on the sat :)

Ooooooooooooooohhhhhh......... Ok.. I didn't know this was going on. I saw there used to be a lot of chatter about them on here a few years ago so I just assumed they were legit..

Thanks!

What a waste, I would've paid shipping for a 4.2.2box to keep it from getting 'properly disposed' (flattening it in the ground with a backhoe is proper disposal for electronics?)

These guys are morons. I don't know why AZbox is so popular with South American pirates at the moment, but they're certainly not the only box that can be used for the purpose.

See what happens when a government official's palm doesn't get greased...

Maybe someone's brother was selling S9s and S10s and they were clearing out the competitions excess inventory? :D

That doesn't appear to be a very environmentally friendly disposal method. Those boxes have plenty of steel and other metals that should be recycled.

Dee_Ann,

AzBox is like a pit bull, train them right and make sure the owners are educated and there should be no trouble. If I had a need for 4:2:2 I would not hesitate to buy an AzBox. I use a Sonicview 8000HD FTA receiver; that doesn't mean I am using it for nefarious purposes. It came with a weird add-on board and some thingy that plugs in the back, but those items do nothing for the reception of FTA and are relegated to the parts bin for component harvesting.
