I've been a customer for many, many years and I get treated like crap. Terrible customer service. Called to see if they can re-hook up my outside Antenna that DISH disconnected on the last upgrade I have a couple of years ago. And they want to charge me $95 for something that they did, and that I now need because of this Fox issue. I still don't even have access to HBO but that is another story. And when I first called about all this I had to wait over 1/2 hour to talk to a rep, another 20 min to try and explain. This rep told me there would be no charge and put me on hold AND ANOTHER 1/2 hour later got another rep, had to explain all over again, then she told me to hold for around 10 min for upper tech support. I explained the situation to them and they told me $95. I told them I should not have to pay for this (the same story) and told them if I had to pay I will just switch to FIOS... they put me on hold again... 20 min later I hung up. Ridiculous. If anyone there actually cares you can message me. Monday I am calling FIOS if I do not hear back. I already have FIOS Internet and Phone so it won't even cost me much to add TV anyway.

Good evening, jayiw. We never want you to experience an issue like this and we always want to have the best experience for our customers. We are unable to provide account specific support here on Satellite Guys, but we do want you to reach out to us through either phone or chat so that we can further assist you. Thank you but they wasted enough of my time already just to be treated badly. Almost 2 hours. If anyone at Dish wants to contact me they can feel free. I left a facebook post as well. They can message me if they care. At this point I really do not care, I can get Fios TV added to my existing FIOS Internet/Phone package which will end up being much less expensive and with more programming. I really should have done this a long time ago. I am not wasting my time again, not going to happen, no way. Someone needs to let the other Dish Reps know this so called "Goal" as well. Thanks for the reply I do appreciate it and I do not mean to vent on you personally.

So why bother replying if you can’t help this long term customer here on satelliteguys?

Is it not worth a free service call to save this customer from switching providers?

My exact words to DirecTV in 2017. I will say I tried to get Dish to install an antenna for me back in July, and they told me "that service wasn't available in my area" which is total crap. Sling customers all around me were getting antennas installed, and a Dish tech told me he could sell me one of his truck if I had another reason for a service call. I ended up finding a local installer who did a decent job, but it is ridiculous that the same Dish tech who installed antennas for Sling customers wasn't allowed to do the same for Dish customers. It did influence my decision to leave Dish, but it wasn't the deciding factor: we just don't watch much linear TV any more. The paradigm has changed for us.

That's what I was told as well when I first called yesterday. They said it was not available for me as I could not get all of the stations. This is BS because I can and did but only from a roof antenna. I know this because I already had it from when they first installed it with the original Dish equipment many years ago. I already paid for the damn thing and it was working fine until they went and "upgraded" the actual Dish and Hopper 3 equipment a few years ago where they disconnected the Antenna. All I want them to do is reconnect the damn thing that I already paid them for in the first placed they THEY disconnected. They are asking me to pay $95 for something I already paid for and they disconnected because I need it due to something THEY and FOX are dealing with. So me as the customer has to pay for something I have absolutely nothing at all to do with and have already paid for? They must be nuts of they think I would pay AGAIN. And not to mention the FOX channel is part of the package that I am (and the rest of us) are still paying for. So sure Dish, screw me, I do not matter. My $160/month does not mean a thing to you obviously. Heck... forget about me already have paid for this and you guys at fault for all of this, just do it because I am a good long term, on time paying customer.

When you went to the Hopper they had to take out the diplexer system that allowed your TV signal to transport over the same cable that had your satellite signal. Diplexers do not work with Hopper systems. You need a separate coax from the antenna to the Hopper or TV. In order for OTA to work with with the Hopper you will also need an OTA adaptor because your Hopper does not have one built in while it is likely that your original equipment did.

Dang MoCA. I say just go to a GigE network and dispose of that nonsense and return OTA frequencies to the coax where they have been since broadcast TV was invented. ;) Coax was invented in 1880. Broadcast TV was invented in 1927.

J4K's would not need a separate coax just the H3?

I am unaware of any Joey that can take the OTA USB adapter. Am I forgetting something about the 4K Joey? I do know that my installer claimed I could hook up the EHD from my 612 into the Joey3 and have it work. It does not. :( Perhaps you are thinking of the super Joey which added two more satellite tuners.

DISH is obviously swamped with calls and of course that isn't an excuse.
First decide if you want to try and keep DISH or not and if them not re-hooking the antenna for free is worth it to switch. If not worth it don't bother calling till you have FIOS, then call and tell them you have already had FIOS installed and want to end your DISH subscription. That way you won't be swayed or be indecisive and your subscription will be turned off.

If you do want to stay with DISH if possible still be prepared as you are to switch, tell the CSR you are dropping DISH and to turn off services. If it doesn't get you to retention follow through and have Fios installed. It should however get you to retention and give it one more try with them. But give them a choice if you really do want DISH service. Either they come and re-hook the antenna they unhooked, or an acceptable credit both for not having channels and to hire someone to hook up the antenna again. I would go for the credit and get an antenna guy because it may be more after two years than just hooking up a wire and I don't know that DISH would do anymore than that at this point.

All that said as someone looking in from the outside you are asking them to do something from two years ago. Had you called them right away they would have come back to fix it. The real issue for you is the loss of channels so decide if that alone is enough for you to just switch or if my advice above in getting a discount to cover getting the antenna re-hooked will work.

You can also try this DISH Loyalty phone number if it still works. 888-496-1260

We have asked Claude to stop trolling the Dish Forum which he agreed to do but unfortunately he can not resist so we have removed his access to the forum.

Claude has had a beef with dish for many years now yet through all his whining and temper tantrums he has done nothing to rectify the situation. If he had a legitimate complaint he should have took action but I feel that any chance of action from him is now way past the statues of limitations in any state.

Our goal here at SatelliteGuys is to help people with their issues comments like the one Claude has been making helps no one and reflects bad on SatelliteGuys. For that we apologize.

I think deep down Claude still loves DISH and wants a Hopper 3 so bad he can taste it. Some but few of his post were still trying to help sometimes. He was a big help to me back 2007 when I was struggling learning DISH and satellite systems. Is there some way to make all his post go to the Sticky section so folks can choose to read them or not?

I think it is too bad but it is about time. The constant bashing and misinformation is ignored by most of us who know what is going on but is detrimental to new subscribers who are still learning. His history of helping people with their DISH systems is very good but that went by the wayside years ago.

Hopper 3 nightly reboot gone bonkers

DISH brings back the Fox channels / FS1 and more
