Directv is making moneyAT&T bought a dying pig in a poke and now they are stuck with it. Kind of like buying Blockbuster as the VCR medium was dying and people started exploring streaming/downloading options.
Sucks to be them.

"While current AT&T video subscribers may notice a change in the name of their video provider, (DIRECTV rather than AT&T) we expect few changes."
If they do have one name for all the video services would people still think of DTV as SatelliteTV only? That's why they choose the AT&T TV name to differentiate it from DTV. Can they do a marketing plan saying something like this is not your fathers DTV? You can get DTV over a number of ways not just SatelliteTV?* except price

Satellite and cable both have had their day in the sun...until they come up with a cheaper distribution model numbers will continue to drop..some of us prefer the old days when the weather channel just had weather..too many duplicate channels playing the same shows over and over again..bring back niche channels and eliminate about 3/4 of existing channels..broadcast tv was free and extremly profitable back in the day with no sub feesDTV will be stripped for parts.
