AT&T disappointed with offers for struggling DirecTV

Wrong. Wrong wrong...there are no people with proffered stock...just banks and other investment institutions...they won big time...no longer responsible for debt
No people with proffered stock? What do you mean?

No longer responsible for debt? How so?

If you don't know what you are talking about, it is best to keep silent.

This is interesting. Does this mean UVerseTV and AT&T TV will change their names to DTV?

"Existing AT&T video customers will become DirecTV customers at close and will be able to keep their video service and any bundled wireless or broadband services as well as associated discounts," AT&T said. "AT&T and TPG are committed to a smooth transition and seamless customer experience and will work to further improve customer service and bring new features to DirecTV's video services."

Directv is making money

Not only making money, but generating over $4 billion in free cash flow per year. I think it fell short of that mark last year, but it is still very profitable and the customer losses haven't hurt the profitability anywhere near the percentage terms of losses in customer base (i.e. most of the losses are probably the type of customer who switches every couple years chasing deals, who doesn't generate a lot of profit)

If they do have one name for all the video services would people still think of DTV as SatelliteTV only? That's why they choose the AT&T TV name to differentiate it from DTV. Can they do a marketing plan saying something like this is not your fathers DTV? You can get DTV over a number of ways not just SatelliteTV?

Thier going to have to, some how make it so people understand what they are looking at .... we would hope.
Essentially, ATT has gone in circles with this whole adventure of getting into the TV business.

DTV will be stripped for parts. You will never get the pre AT&T days again.
Satellite and cable both have had their day in the sun...until they come up with a cheaper distribution model numbers will continue to drop..some of us prefer the old days when the weather channel just had weather..too many duplicate channels playing the same shows over and over again..bring back niche channels and eliminate about 3/4 of existing channels..broadcast tv was free and extremly profitable back in the day with no sub fees

Broadcast TV is still extremely profitable, they just want to double dip.
