Check out the number of new subscribers for D* and E* per quarter. The article is from SkyREPORT, and does not mention anything about Voom. Article follows:
The third quarter reporting begins for satellite TV this week, and Wall Street is expecting another solid period from the nation's top two DBS services.
Tom Eagan of Oppenheimer and Co. estimated that DirecTV will gain 459,000 net subscriber additions and EchoStar's DISH Network will get 313,000 net subscriber additions. If DirecTV beats DISH Network, it would represent the fifth consecutive quarter of DirecTV net subscriber gains beating EchoStar's net customer gains, Eagan pointed out in a note released last week.
Doug Shapiro of Banc of America Securities said in a research note that DirecTV is forecasted to report net subscriber additions of about 375,000 for the three-month period, excluding the consolidation of National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative subscribers acquired mid-quarter. Shapiro also said DirecTV could record flat SAC (subscriber acquisition costs) and 6 percent growth for ARPU (average revenue per unit - or subscriber).
Shapiro also said EchoStar's DISH Network should show solid net subscriber additions of about 340,000, lower SAC thanks to its SBC partnership and strong ARPU growth of 9 percent. Investors should pay close attention to the level of EchoStar's buyback activity in the quarter, although Shapiro said he expects it was less active than in second quarter.
DirecTV reports third quarter results Tuesday. EchoStar reports its results Nov. 9.
