MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - Three days after dealing high-priced righthander Curt Schilling to Boston, the Arizona Diamondbacks acquired power-hitting first baseman Richie Sexson in a nine-player trade with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Diamondbacks also acquired lefthander Shane Nance and a player to be named for second baseman Junior Spivey, first baseman Lyle Overbay, versatile infielder Craig Counsell, lefthander Chris Capuano and minor league lefthander Jorge de la Rosa, who was acquired in the Schilling deal.
Sexson matched a career high with 45 home runs last season, two behind National League leader Jim Thome.
