Motorized dish got bumped out of alignment! Did some moving about to get the best guess towards my south satellite, Nimiq 2. Replaced FTA LNB with Dish lnb. I am using a Fortec Ultra receiver. No signal for N2.

Here is what is crazy. I can select Echostar 6,8 and Echostar 7 using USALS. Finds them with very strong signal and quality near 100%. Replaced the Dish LNB with my FTA lnb. Selected G10R using USALS....right on target. Quality varies from high 50's to over 70%.

Now for my problem. It seems that everything left of E6,8 will not come in using USALS or Discq 1.2 for that matter. Does this mean that I am not on center at my true south? Seems to me that if three satellites are dead on then the rest should be too.

Any suggestions....PSB, Iceberg, anyone!?

Strange stuff! Make sure your cable is not coming loose as the dish turns, it happened to me and was driving me crazy! As the dish motored to the west it was unscrewing the connector from LNBF to motor. Then when I motored east it would tighten up again : ) Took some time to workout what was happening : ) Hope its something simple.....good luck!

Argh II

Now I motored over to E9/A13 (121)....

"Contratulations! You have a SuperDISH system pointed at 121 W.L."

Now lemme see how far west I can go from here (Florida)

129 W.L. is my limit

Still trying to figure out why I can't USALS to sats east of E110. I was able to go as far west as IA7 at 129W. Started moving east now and have gotten to SATMEX5. Found some channels by blind search. I think what may have happened.... I took PSB's advice and tightened my connection at the dish and motor.... and looked at my freq lists. They are a few numbers off of Lyngsat, so that may be part of the problem. Whatever...

This sure is a fun hobby. :)

Yippee!

After checking all other possibilities, I found what the problem was with my setup. Somehow, my dish elevation had been bumped a couple of degrees off. Attached a $5.00 signal meter, pointed at Nimiq 2, set Fortec to proper USALS settings....Wallah!

I still can't explain why I was able to get certain satellites using USALS and not others. Anyway, I am so pleased everything is working now.

Now to change LNBs and get back to some serious scanning.
