Are local installers trained on the Hopper?

I called a local installer that I've dealt with in the past. I've always been please with his work and he's been much better to deal with than Dish themselves. But when I asked the lady that answered the phone about wanting to upgrade to the hopper, she hesitated for a minute. I asked if they've installed any yet and she said they had not. She also said it was pretty expensive. Without even getting my account information, she said it would be $99 to get a hopper and 1 Joey. And every Joey after that would be $99 each. It's disappointing to hear that because I really would prefer to use this company. They are a local family owned business and the owner/installer is very personable and honest. Every time I've had to deal with Dish directly has been a disaster. They have never showed up on time and usually send out techs that know less about there product than I do. But under the circumstances I guess I don't have an option.

My installer is a retailer, the manager was trained and he trained his installers. You might want to read my post in the thread about Hopper install experiences.

I think if I could talk to the installer/owner I would at least get an intelligent answer. Problem is all the phones are routed through the office because he's always out working.

Talk to her again.

If she gives you the same wrong info, then find a polite way to ask her if she could double check on the pricing. Or even try asking her to look it up directly for your specific account (i'm assuming that can be done although i've never dealt with a retailer myself).

I would just ask her to look into it for you. That's what we do, it's our job. Not all retailers are educated on the Hopper. It depends on if they have been given the correct info or if they try to keep updated on their own. I myself try to get updated on what Dish is doing, especially when new equipment comes out.
