Apple TV general question

Do I need any other Apple product to use an Apple TV? Christmas gift idea..

Don’t recall for certain but you might need an iTunes account to set up and register but that is no cost. No additional hardware required. An iPhone or iPad is useful for typing in app credentials but not required.

Correct, it will work fine without any other Apple gear.
