Anyone have any experience with either of these recievers?

The first one is: Advanced Digital Broadcast # ABS-8776
The Second one is: NCE # IRD-310

I had a friend over and we were playing with the CoolSat when he mentioned having these recievers laying around as his parents had changed out equipent to get Chinese programming. They are currently subscribed to some provider - no doubt on IA5.

In googling around it seems that the ABS-8776 is likely usable.

I can't really figure out what the IRD-310 box is. I've got hits on everything from a cable descrabler to an Echostar box.

I'm talking him into bringing the boxes by for me to play with.

I'm looking for any input / experience with either or both of these recievers. Are they usefull for FTA?

if the one is subscribed to Globecast, you might not be able to use it for satellites other than T5

some of the globecast receievrs disable the menu to use other satellites

You should be able to upload some new firmware to overcome that if you can find it on the manfacturers website.
