Seems about time for an update or heads up on what's happening. Are there still further delays? I have been w/o satellite TV since Sky Angel's demise.

Starting to miss TV a bit also.

My family has also been without any TV since the death of SkyAngel, would love to have some news on the new receiver. We never watch TV live so the DVR part is very important to us.

I have to admit, a DVR custom made for GloryStar would be a big factor in finally deciding to buy a G* system.

I expect we will hear something soon. I noticed yesterday that the Glorystar.tv web site has updated graphics which include the new receiver. No change to the receiver or packages pages, yet...

Not that I want to cut into GloryStar's business model, but any MPEG-2 receiver (Coolsat 7100 is a good DVR) will get the channels. Just point at 97 and 101 and do a scan.

A little bird told me.....the DVR's are here in the US. Just doing some firmware updates before release.

The DVR1100c has been delivered to our facility, but due to a recent administrative decision with one of our broadcast partners, a firmware redesign was required. This resulted in the Manual / Install Guide needing to be redesigned.

As soon as the final firmware is approved and the new guide is printed, the units will be available for purchase. Look for the DVR1100c to be available in the next few weeks.

Pepper,

  • Yes another DVR will record, but can it be automatically updated weekly with new firmware and channel lists?
  • Will it support the Glorystar EPG?
  • Will all channels and DVR function sync to correct GMT?
  • Capable of receiving the Glorystar information and program promotion virtual channels?
  • Support upcoming features such as Glorystar Karaoke and Glorystar Bible Triva? ........
NO

I'm definitely interested in G* EPG, auto channel update, time sync, and other new features.

Will this receiver be the only one that can display the EPG information, when available, or will the Mercury II be able to display the EPG information?

I never said another DVR would support all those features, obviously GloryStar is doing a "value add" with their stuff that makes it well worth considering.

I would hope they choose to use the DVB standard for EPG which means that any box would support that feature.

I saw it! I touched it! I love it! I want to take one home with me! It is better than a new puppy! I think you will want the DVR features. It is a GLORYSTAR box that will do other FTA also. WOW. And I though the Mercury II was easy to set up and learn. It is intuitive enough that this 64+ year old could see how to do it. No, I did not get to play with it. BUT I WANT TO TAKE ONE (or two) HOME with me. HEY- the CLOCK works!

The Mercury II is capable of displaying the EPG data, but we are unsure if the firmware will be adapted by the Fortec engineers to display the EPG. R/D for new advanced features on the Mercury II is limited and probably will not be available. We are planning on offering the EPG data in an on screen rolling video format.

The Glorystar EPG information is conforming to DVB standards and originates from a single transponder. The majority of broadcasters are unable to provide the EPG features on their individual MUX due to financial, technical and programming restraints. The GEOSATpro DVR1100c and DSR100 will be programmed to propagate the EPG data, collected and programmed by Glorystar contract, to be displayed with all channels. This is a unique feature that Glorystar will be able to offer on our proprietary equipment as we are contracting R/D and manufacturing for the new receivers.

Sooo....

Any idea of timing yet when the DVR will be out?

The DVR sounds like a close replacement to our JVC PVR.

We used SkyAngel for our family and ministry functions. The kids are getting (really) tired of the same TVU shows for the 100th time. We are hoping JCTV (or something similar) will fill the gap.

Thanks,
