I'm going on vacation and I want to power down as many electronics as I can. I'll leave my main DVR on so I can record stuff, but can I power down my ehds without any issues? I don't want to come back, and see that I've lost all my stuff. I also have a 211 (with ehd) that I want to power down. Any issues with that?

No problem. I only hook up the EHD's when I want to transfer or watch something off them.

My experience with the 211 is that if you add or remove the hard drive, the 211 wants to reboot itself. When I travel for an extended period, I unplug the 211, then power down the EHD. Powering up goes in the reverse order (power up EHD, then plug in 211). The other thing I've run into is if the box doesn't see the sat for more hen 3 weeks (not sure of the exact point, but two weeks is ok, three seems to not), I have to call Dish for a rehit.

<rant>That being said, I miss the days when I could just call, enter the on screen code, and the computer would do the rehit. Now I have to wait for a representative, then explain that I need a rehit. Of course, they go through the script (unplug your receiver, wait 10 seconds, plug it in, wait 5 minutes for signal acquisition, then the rep will send a rehit). I've been with Dish since year 1; please provide a way to do things through an on-line or phone system where I don't have to wait for a person. I know it can be done, since they had it that way before... </rant>
