Just moved into apartment and had dishnetwork for 1 year but our room faces the wrong side. The landlord would only allow us to put it on a pole in front of our room but that wouldnt work. But it would work if their wasnt a sidewalk in the way b/c they would have to go under the side walk and they dont want that either and the only other option would be to have it on the roof but the landlord has the right to deny that. Is their any way to get dish back?

Yeah, if there isnt any way to get it on the backside of your apartment(deck?), looks like youll be going to cable.

Look around and see if anyone else like you has satellite, maybe someone found away around it.

*BIG FAT GRIN* There are a couple of ways, if you do the pole outside of the sidewalk you can burry the line up to the sidewalk but burry it to a point where there is the flex groov thats put in while the cement is drying. Lay the line into this groov and then you can cover it with duct tape though I recommend using road construction tape as it is more durable, I did this in 05 with permission from the property management.

If the building has a flat roof then the installer can put in a non penetrating flat roof mount that uses a metal grid and at a minumum four cement blocks and rubber mat to keep the mount inplace, theres no holes in the roof and its designed specificaly for rubber roofs.

Going under a sidewalk isnt hard at all, you just need a hand shovel and a 4 - 5 ft rod with a cross hole in one end to atach the coax. Dig a hole on opposite sides of the walk to where you get down to the bottom of the walk with four inches extra, take the free end of the rod and push it at a horizontal angle into the ground under the walkway towards the other hole, the rest is simple.

Did not know about a non penetrating roof mount, cool.

It was a tad confusing upon reading it, but didn't the OP state the landlord does NOT want any cables buried under the sidewalk?
