Any benefits going with 129 vs 61.5

Okay, this may have been asked before but I haven't seen it so far. I'm using a dish 500 and a dish 300 on the 622 I just installed myself. Is there any benefit keeping the dish 300 on 61.5 or am I better off pointing it to 129. One rep this morning said it HAD to be pointed at 129 (actually she told me you couldn't get a 622 working without a dish 1000) but tech support told me the satellites mirror each other so there is really no difference except for the fact that CBSHD is on 61.5. Every one and a while I like to watch the NY news so that is one benefit to keeping 61.5.

Another question: Is the any way to run the 622 in dual mode and have TV1 set up to use the UHF remote? I've seen posts that imply this is possible but so far I have only gotten it to work when in single mode. One post mentioned page 43 in the 622 review on DBStalk.com but I can't find that review.

if you have 61.5 you'll be fine

Dual mode is when both tv1 and tv2 are the same, unless one of us have it backwards. So both remotes do the same thing...

Shared mode is where either remote works to control whats displayed on tv1 or tv2..

Dual mode allows remote 1 to control tv1 and remote 2 to control tv2, which btw rocks. :) I like being able to watch something i recorded on the main tv anywhere in the house.

As for the remote setup, that was crazy, I rember she had me goto menu, setup, installation, system info then hold the sat button till they all flashed hit 5 then #, then select I think? and that set it up for tv2, but no clue on how or if you can set it up for tv1. Would be nice, let me know if you find out how, I'd love to get a second remote and hookup tv1 output to a second channel through the house.

All of the national HD channels are mirrored 61.5 vs. 129. The only possible downside is that your local HD channels might be on the 129 sat. depending on your location. You can check here: (credit to TNGTony and others)

Check your signal strengths for both sats for comparison. If you want to play with it, move the dish between the two slots and tweak it carefully for the strongest signal. Choose the one with the best signal consistency.

Re: the remotes - I'm not sure how to control the receiver in dual mode with remote 2, only the tuner 2 functions. Someone else will have to check-in on this one...

You have to enable uhf on tv1 in the menu, then on the tv2 remote you have to add the remote address for tv 1 under aux, so sat controls tv2 and aux controls tv1

DVR events gone!!
