Here's the list on the PG. I'll take a look at the Classics...

Dan Dare
Ratz

2020
The Classics.

If these classic cartoons look very decent transfer in HD, I imagine how the new ones will look like. They looked very good...

The Classics is playing now... Remember Mr. Magoo

Animania HD ?

I was just curious if this channel was any good? Sounds interesting to me. I've looked all over the place and cant find any info on this. Could anyone post some screens of Animania HD. Just want to see what i can look foward to when my dad orders voom. Thanks alot.

Caseyhdfreak,

Animania-HD is showing the following series:

Dan Dare: is a mini-series of 12 episodes. Each episode is divided in two parts. I have watched the episodes and they are of excellent quality. I have not followed the whole series from beginning to end. I have watched a few chapters and it is interested.

You can find more information about the series Here

Ratz: I have not watched a whole lot of this. So I can't tell yo much. But I took some pictures. If you know french here is some information about ratz: here

Mistin: I have seen and I believe is a Japanese cartoon.

2020: I have also watched with my kids. They like the theme. The 2020 series has 26 Episodes. This thread gives you more information but it is in Spanish. Here

The Classics: Includes Mr. Magoo, Felix the Cat and others. Not all the classics. Here is where picture quality suffer the most since these classic cartoons are old.

All the others have excellent PQ. Each one runs for half-hour. The Classics run for a full hour.

There will be other cartoons that will be introduced: Read Here for other cartoons.

Here are some pics from Dan Dare. I will post more later from the others. Remember the pics do not describe clearly how it really looks in HD.

Mistin...

So there you have them... Animania is a channel that will be good when more content is added. Right now it is limited to these series. In November/December there were other Cartoons shown that I did not include in this list but it was more like a loop.

My favorite cartoon on this channel is Roger Ramjet.

How do they make these old cartoons widescreen -- were they originally drawn that way and then formatted to fit 4x3 TVs? Could they do the same thing with modern cartoons like the Simpsons and the Family Guy?

Some of the classics that I watched appeared zoomed to fill the screen. Is this how they get the 16:9 from the original 4:3?
