I suppose just to have an alternative.You can install android os on pc just to play around with.I haven't tried it,but may when i get the time.

I'm pretty sure that Chromebooks run ChromeOS as opposed to Android.

Looks like it might be useful as a media player.

Since it appears to use a phone display, it probably isn't useful for much else.

You hook it up to a monitor.

The best way I can sum it up is a tablet minus the screen and touch features.It has the same specs as many common tablets now.It could be handy for traveling I suppose.

That's what media players (AppleTV, Patriot Box Office, Popcorn Hour, Boxee Box, etc.) do.

An ostensibly handheld device that must be cabled to a TV makes my head hurt.

Interesting. You use it with a wireless keyboard and mouse. $38 shipped on Amazon.
