Hi all,

Is it possible to run standard def, analog cable TV through the DirecTV basic D12-300 receiver? Can it work through the OTA input in any way?

I do not have an OTA antenna, I'm talking about regular cable TV, no digital set top box.

IS it possible at all?

The ONLY thing the OTA input does, is loop the signal thru the box (instead of the ch 3/4 box output) when it is shut OFF.
Other than that, it doesn't do anything else.

If I decided to run an OTA, how would I set that up? I would need a digital to analog converter of course...

How do those channels show up in the DirecTV guide?

The D12 only has a Directv Digital tuner built in for cable or OTA it just passes the signal through to the tuner of the TV (vonverter box). It does nothing except slightly degrade tha passed signal. Seeing it dosen't process the signal it dosen't show up in any guide.
