Inspired by the thread on SV arriving in the Hartford market, I got curious and started playing around with the SV tool on the D* website to see what could be seen.

I noticed a few other SV changes that haven't been commented on here, and which don't necessarily match the FCC SV list.

So, in case anyone's interested, below is what you would see if you compared D*'s SV lookup with the FCC list. Only those counties where D* is shown to be doing SV are listed.

Key:
  • :) = on the FCC list AND carried by D*
  • :( = on the FCC list but NOT carried by D*
  • = carried by D* but not on the FCC list

Thanks for doing that research, MS. While I'd be even more interested if my market were on that list, it is very educational to see how some markets got lots of "bonus channels". I wonder how many of them are newer stations that were not around when the original list was compiled in the 70s.

The Burlington stations are not carried because of SV, but because of a special provision in the SHVERA law.

That's what I figured for almost all of the  -flagged stations.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a smiley face that realy conveyed that message.

The one possible exception for that is the PBS station added in/around Hampton Roads. It's not entirely clear to me what's up there.

WDBD 40 is on the locals package in Lincoln County. I grew up there and lived there until a few years ago. The D* site still says they get it.

I've updated my list. It's apparently just one ZIP code that's in the Baton Rouge market, but also receives Jackson's networks via SV

D* has added another SV Local to Mecklenburg Co., Va. They have added WRIC 8 in Richmond. I check the list on D*'s Website and it is not listed for my zip (23968) just the other two that I get (WDBJ and WSET from Roanoke) are listed but I am now seeing it on all my receivers.

Got it. Thanks.

One GREAT thing about seeing all of the  's out there is that it may mean that D* is pushing per market to get as close to cable eqivalency as possible. This is HUGE for markets like mine, which have a SV viewed list that pales to what the cable co's offer due to dual head-end, etc.
