All channels black, even OTA??

My wife called and said that every channel on both of our HR-20s were black this morning. She could change channels, but the screen stayed black, with no error message, even OTA channels.

First thing i asked was if she was on the right input, but she was. She didnt check it long, maybe 5 minutes before she had to leave for work, and I havent checked it myself yet, but I was wondering if anyone else had ever experienced this?

I feel like it is a simple glitch that will be fixed by the time I get home, if it isnt already, just curious
 
I would venture a guess that a Red Button Reset would help remedy the issue since you are having issues with OTA as well.

Do you know if she can see the banner when changing the channel?

The reset would be my guess. If you're downloading CE's, the box may need to be restored to the National Release; however, my box is working fine on the recent software.

Another option might be to have the boxes (cards) updated. This can be done from the web site but I can't remember how to do it anymore.

Yeah, if it is still out, i will reset it. I dont look for it to be though. Oh well, my first hiccup with the Hr series, I cant complain

Hi... this very thing happened to me over the past weekend (it's happened at least twice before) I'm not on the Cutting Edge program and I have no idea why it happens. A red button restore worked fine but takes about 10 minutes. My DVR (HR20) is the only recvr it happens to. HTH.:cool:

Sorry I havent posted back before this.

I got home that evening and the channels were still out, kind of. The receivers were very slow to turn on. Several seconds and a few button pushes before any lights woud come on. When they did come on, on one of them, I got a frozen picture, then nothing. On the other, I just got nothing. I did a RBR on both, a few minutes to reboot and problem solved.

Just seemed odd that both of them did the same thing at the same time. I just wonder how widespread this was. It didnt show that I had received any updates lately.
