AL CENTRAL

Why watch that group when I can listen to Matt & John Wayne??? It's also on YES.

Our esteemed colleague MSHAW2715 mentions in another thread that STO has dropped several Tribe games that are to be nationally broadcast.

Yet another sign of a lost season? Now their flagship TV station is cutting back broadcasts to save $$$??? Sad.

I dunno. I was pretty disappointed I was force-fed the ESPN broadcast too. They kept making references to the Cavs and Quicken Loans Arena can still be seen looming beyond left field. :(

Instead of the game, STO had a daily Tribe analysis show followed by a Darcy Egan/Joe Thomas bird-dog hunting show.

HD, WHAT IS UP WITH THOSE GULLS THIS SEASON????? They are forming large letters in the outfield for God's sake!!! Midgies...now this????

Cleveland is unique!

I have no idea. I've never seen anything like it. It has been rainy and humid lately. We also live just off the lake, so maybe it's ideal temperatures and a perfect haven for the BIRDS to call home.

Ironically, the only time birds/bugs seem to be an issue in this town is when the Stinkees come to town. Ironic? I think not!

Seagulls are rats with wings, so it makes perfect sense that they showed up for the Yankees. :)

Good bye (what's left of) Tiger Stadium!

MLB - So long: Detroit board OKs leveling Tiger Stadium - FOX Sports on MSN

...as I recall, Paul, you were never fond of the old park?

I'm even less fond of that piece of crap that they left standing. They were never going to do anything with what was left, and it was another eyesore, in an area full of eyesores.

As for the stadium in it's previous state - yeah, wasn't a big fan. 12,000 of the best seats in baseball. (Out of 55,000). The biggest problem was the posts that supported the upper deck that caused obstructed views. Not enough bathrooms, or concession stands. If you went to the bathroom, or went to get a beer, you would miss 2 innings. The concourses were narrow, and the place smelled to the high heavens.

A lot of memories there, though. 1968, 1984. The 1971 all star game, where I saw Reggie Jackson hit a baseball harder than I thought humanly possible, etc....

The new park while not having the great seats that Tiger Stadium had around the infield, doesn't have a bad seat. And all the amenities are here now. Bathrooms and concession stands are everywhere, the prices at the stands are a killer though. But this park doesn't smell and is absolutely beautiful, with a great view of the Downtown skyline. Just more comfortable, and with a lot of bars and restaurants just outside of the gates. I love going to Comerica Park.

Man these Tigers need to go out and get a bat, and a bat that can actually hit and from the left side. We are getting exposed by these AL east teams that have good pitching. I do not care how good our pitching is, we just cannot hit. Period.. MAgs is just washed up, plain and simple, Polanco looks lost at the plate for some reason, and Inge, well he is Inge. Everyone in the league has pounded Beckett this season, then he comes here and is no hitting us through 5, and we are not even close to hitting the ball..Pathetic..this is what I was afraid of when the season started..Our offense, and now they are starting to show us what they are..

Beckett is 5-2 on the season, hardly getting pounded ....

Is ERA is nearly 5, is Whip is 1.5 I dont care about his W/L Record..

These are things constantly said about him and they are true..

Ov-er-rat-ed
From ESPN.com's Matthew Berry: "Three ERA figures for you: 5.01, 3.27, 4.03. Those are Beckett's end-of-season ERAs in the three seasons he has been in Boston. By my count, he has had only one season in which he was an elite fantasy stud, and yet folks keep drafting him like he is a top-of-the-line SP option. He's currently sixth in the American League in walks, has a 6.42 ERA, is still an injury risk

I am guessing by your post, you think this teams offense is just fine?

How does Beckett's era's compare with the rest of the AL over that same time frame ???

Does he win when it counts most ? As I recall he's about untouchable in the playoffs, when it matters most.
fwiw, No I did not look the numbers up.
As for your other comment about the Offense, your talking about the Sox pitching, are you talking about the Sox O or the Tigers O ?

Actually Neither is where it needs to be.

btw, who's the top LEFT handed hitter that you want so bad that is AVAILABLE ?

Josh Beckett, playoff career in 9 games pitched, 8 of which were starts:
5-2 record,
1.78 ERA in 65.2 innings,
73 strikeouts,
0.72 WHIP - yes, you read that right, 1 World Series title.

Yup, he wins when it counts, thats what I want in my pitchers.

OK, who actually PLAYS sports?

Shaq once had a video game of his own- a fighting game!
