If VOOM 21 were on Akimbo, I would buy the receiver and service in a minute. Akimbo is a niche programming service and would do well to have VOOM 21.

Wow, talk about no name company.

I've never heard of them before...

I've heard of them, and I'm glad you gave me a review Claude. I was considering getting it, but I didn't know because most of it I had never heard of. It's a thing that downloads programs from the internet on to a little receiver of sorts. It looks like a GREAT idea, but like Mr. Greiner said, not much quality programming.

It is not possible for them to provide HD through this method for now. So, I am not sure why you think Voom21 would be a good fit.

Why can't you donwloan HD content and watch it with Windows Media like they use?

For 1, there are no HD outputs on the Akimbo STBs. Second, the bandwidth needed, even with broadband connectivity, for HD downloads just makes it not useable. Maybe, if the boxes would support MPEG-4, h.264 in the near future (not probable, because they use Windows Media (and DRM), it would be more feasible to download an HD show.

IMHO, most people will not wait till next morning (overnight download) to watch a program. It should work like On Demand, it isn't and for sure not with HD content.
