I saw in one of the posts where Iceberg pointing a single LNB dish between 97W and 101W and did a good job picking things up. Would this also work with other satellites that are 4 degrees apart? Could it also work hitting something 2 degrees apart like 95W and 97W?

Are the elevations going to have to be the same, or is there other factors that I need to consider when doing the satellite pointing calculations?

I am just trying to find ways to set up friends with cheap satellite options.

Thanks.....

Good Question..... might work, I don't know? Maybe Iceberg or someone else knows?

No kidding! Iceberg is the man! Just don't know how he and PCB and a few others get enough time to answer all these questions. It seems like someone around here always has an answer to everything. :)

but those torridials can pick up a lot if you are careful. I don't have one and have never fooled with one, but saw some pics some others have posted that does have em... good grief. I think one guy has almost 13 satellites on one of those bigger tors!!!! Here's a thumbnail - can't remember who posted the original pic - kudos to you.

I assume you were talking about my SC dish? That has 2 LNB's built in and are 3.8 degrees apart. StarChoice is at 107.3/111.1 so I just moved the dish to another slot :) So I was able to get 97 & 101 (or any satellites that were 4 degrees apart) with pretty good success. :)

when I aimed the dish, I took 2 numbers. What the elevation/skew was for each satellite so I kinda knew where I needed to be. One LNB is straight down the arm and the other is offset. It seemed like taking what the numbers were for 1/2 way between worked the best

I just got to wondering about that later on, if it was a SC and if they were dual lnb. I just got my hopes up thinking about hitting two satellites with one dish. But they have to be a dual LNB, or especially small LNBs connected together to do it, right? If you used 2 regular LNBs together, you are talking more like 9 degress apart, right?

To bad you can't pick up SC dishes in the US like you see Primestar dishes.

Thanks........

Check out a setup by a member here, he is picking up two Satellites IA5 and AMC4 with one dish... see the pictures attached

That is cool. Are those just standard FSS LNBs? I have a Primestar dish.

Thanks......

Those are Universal KU LNB's (what Gary Z posted)...the SC LNB uses a 22k switch for 2nd LNB

depends on the LNB's...I can get 4 degrees apart with some of my LNB's...some are 5 or even 6 (depends on how big the "eye" is )

Does anyone know if by using 2 of the LNB's in the attached picture would work to get 4 degree space between AMC4/IA5 on a primestar dish?

possible...only issue is the "bump" where the eye meets the LNB (where the white meets the brown) actually hinders it.

But AMC4 is very strong so there is some room for error. :)

Why can't I get Montana PBS?

Does anyone get ONN on SBS6 & AMC6?
