After "60 Minutes" expose on Tom Brady, I have new respect for him...

You know why he succeeds. Good offensive line. I hate billepuke but his stratagem of keeping a solid offensive line and saying screw the skills positions has payed off huge.

You could plug any decent QB behind that line and he would be spectacular.

Well....
It's about time someone realized that if you have a very good O line the rest will fall into place. ie. NE., Indy .....
Dallas has not gotten much credit for their O line, but I am sure that it's better than most.

Pittsburgh is struggling in part because thier O Line can't get it together this year ... consequently, the D* is also affected.

Yeah my Rams are playing with 4th string O line. They should be 8 and 8 this year :D

What was discussed in this piece/

He was very humble in the fact that NOBODY would have given him a chance in college unless HIS DAD created a video and sent to approx. 60 colleges around the country until someone bit(Michigan) and started as a 7th string(I didn't know it went that high) QB. I was impressed with demeanor.

Did I mention I still hated the Pats AND Beli-pri**??!!:D;)

After watching Brady in college, I was not impressed, he was good but far from great.
He's a much better NFL player than college.
also alot has to do with how you got to where you are now, he starts for NE, but NE was not very good before him, at least not like they are with him. He got a break when Bledsoe got hurt and never looked back.
Had he been a high draft pick and went with a bad team as most top QB's do, he may not be where he is today.

Hard to believe he was Brain Griese's backup. But , as you say he was not that highly regarded as a college player.

Brady just took advantage of one of the most classy guys in the league having a Heart problem. Never gave him a chance to come back either.

Bledsoe took his demotion with grace and that is why NE was wiling to send him to Buffalo where he could start even though it was a division rival.

But i don't understand the comment about not giving him a chance to come back. That was certainly not Brady's decision and while I have respect for Bledsoe it is hard to say that NE made the wrong choice---and as a I say they did send him somewhere where he could start.
BTw what "heart problem" are you referring to. It wasa leg injury as I recall and well as for his heart in the figurative sense I don't recall aproblem there.

Who never gave Bledsoe a chance to come back ?
NE or Brady.
It's not Brady's call and Why would he say,OK Drew, I've got the team playing real well and seeing your healed, here ya go, take the job back.

The NFL is a 'What have you done for me lately? " league as are all Pro sports.

Do I think that NE would be where they are today had Brady went back to the bench and Bledsoe came back in ?

NO.

NE saw what they had in Brady, a guy that was moving the team and he was much younger.

Steelers are asking the same question this year.

IMO we(Steeler fans) are spoiled by the center postion over the years.
  1. Ray Mansfield, 1964-75. Started on two Super Bowl-winning teams.
  2. The late Mike Webster, 1976-88. Multi-time All-Pro. Multi-time Pro Bowl. Started on two Super Bowl-winning teams. Hall of Famer.
  3. Dermontti Dawson, 1989-00. Multi-time All-Pro. Multi-time Pro Bowl. Once received every vote for the All-Pro team.
  4. Jeff Hartings, 2001-06. All-Pro. Multi-time Pro Bowl. Started on a Super Bowl-winning team.
  5. Sean Mahan sucks

If you notice most of Ben's sacks are up the middle, that never happened on a regular basis like it does this year.

Was Hartings a All Pro in Detroit when he was there ?
I think maybe once, you have to get away from Detroit to get any credit !

Cowboys have 3 offensive linemen starting in the Pro Bowl.

There ya go, case in point !
Then again the Cowboys ALWAYS have offensive linemen in the Pro Bowl, even when they are 35 years old and there are lot of better ones playing.

I'm speaking of previous years and the fact that thePro Bowl is a popularity contest anyways and NO ONE watches it !!!

I don't even know why they play the game, just give out the award like baseball does ....

They play the game in baseball too. It is called the all Star game.

I think that you are confusing the Pro Bowl with being named to All Pro Team. That is analogous to the GoldenGlove or Silver Slugger awards in MLB. But no game is played in either sport for that.
