ok, start the smack talking. who is going to be the afc champ?

Too paraphrase Shannon Sharp, You do what you do, we do what we do, and he do what he do, but the Broncos do what they do.:D

Well it depends on one simple thing. Was the "Here We Go, Steelers, Here We Go" song played in Pittbsurgh this year?

I'm a firm believer that the song is a jinx for this team. If Pittsburgh radio stations played that song this year, Pittsburgh will lose. The Terrible Towel doesn't have enough power to overcome that song.

I remember when Eric Green and Brentson Buckner played for the Steelers. I recall that Eric and his boys were planning a Super Bowl rap video even before the Steelers played their first playoff game. The Steelers ended up blowing a 10 point lead and lost the AFC Championship (at home) to the Chargers.

yeah, they are playing it a lot and also the older polka version
We can only hope the the Terrible Towel has enough power left in it to overcome the jinx of this song.:)

I love to be the one to crash this Pittsburgh party. Gentlemen, our friends in Las Vegas have Denver as the Favorite to win the whole enchilada. While they must still play the game, Mile High is the loudest stadium in the NFL (next to arrowhead) and the 12th man makes all the difference in the world. Just ask Tom Brady. I must also say as a card player and gambler in gereral that math does not always hold true in games, but Vegas did not build all those casinos by losing their shirts.

But, I must ask since none of us are playing ... why not let the game do the talking? While I'll concede that the PIT offense is better, the Broncos D* has been dominating the league since week 6 of the season. Defense wins championships.

We call the terrible towel, the terrible tampon here ... Lewis & Floorwax (local DJ's) actually have some manpons for the steelers that will be at the game for swinging. :D They will be riding the Steelers "short bus" to the game.

They build casinos because they can't lose - no matter who wins the game. It's all about the smart money and the dumb money. Denver opened at -3.5 and it's down to -3.0 The Panthers opened 5.5 point underdogs and it's down to 3.5. So the smart money has been coming in.

Las Vegas had Indy as a 10 point favorite, so what's your point?

slacker,

his point was vegas was wrong, your point is that this time vegas has the broncos as favorites, so what. they were wrong once, they can be wrong again.

ive got a thought for you, broncos are the home team. you are saying they are the team to beat. the stadium is noisy. the steelers are the 6th seed.

and you guys can only muster a 3 point spread??? seems to me vegas is speaking VOLUMES about the steelers chances!

Vegas is never wrong. They set the spread so that equal money will come in on both sides - if one side starts to bring in more than the other, the spread shifts.

All it means is that there are more people dumb enough to think that Denver will win :) - although since the spread is closing, less than they originally thought.

This is why I like Pittsburgh's chances. The RCA Center was loud, so Pittsburgh spent a lot of time working on the silent snap count. I'm sure they will use it in Denver. I think playing the Colts only made Pittsburgh stronger and more determined to win this week. Beating the Colts doesn't prove anything. It doesn't make Pittsburgh the best team in the AFC. Likewise, beating the Patriots doesn't mean anything. The Patriots had problems all season long.

I'm not taking anything away from the Broncos. The Broncos have had some impressive victories this year. I'm hoping that the Broncos that showed up to play the Ravens are the same ones that show up to play the Steelers. I think we are in for one of the greatest games in NFL history. Perhaps we will see an immaculate reception!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I beleive the point spread isn't espablished by who is or isn't the better team, but where folks bet. My guess is that a lot of folks from the east cost are pushing for the east coast. Aint much out west except mountain goats and they don't bet (but i think mountain sheep do) Go Denver

Generally it is the "better" team that is favored. They normally give 3 points for the home team, but other than that, the line should reflect the "better" team. As the money comes in, the line shifts so ultimately the same amount of money is wagered on either side by the time the game starts.
