One installer advertize to a friend of mine . Fortec star 8ft 240p c/ku prime focus satellite dish often outperform larger mesh antennas on the c and ku .Any advice?

It's possible. Sometimes a smaller dish that is better built, or has a parabolic shape that's more efficient, can outperform a bigger, lower quality dish. Your mileage may vary, in other words.

no one right answer

I think it depends on what mesh dish you compare it to.
Old used BUD? Might depend on brand and condition.
Then, the smaller dish comes into question as to its accuracy and ease of alignment (I'm assuming it's new)
I have a nice 90cm Fortec Star, but don't like their 1m nor 1.2m models.
As to their 2.4m, there aren't a lot around, so ya don't see too much feedback.

An accurate one-piece spun aluminum dish (even a 20 year old Birdview 8½'), or a commercial molded dish (2.4m Andrew/ChannelMaster 4-petal) would be my first choice, even if a little smaller.
Either might be had for free, but the cost of moving, installing, and aligning one is only small if you do it yourself.
Same would apply to a mesh BUD.
There's considerable difference between a BUD you buy new and have professionally installed vs a free one you find and bring home.

So, I think the question is, "what do you want and need, and what are you willing to spend (or do yourself)?"
