Does anyone know of a way I can get the HD version (with or without the sd version) of National Geographic without having to upgrade to the regular package that includes it? I have the Dish 200 package along with the DVR Advantage and Dish HD.

Thanks,
Jay

You will have to get the 250 package to be able to get it.Dish currently doesnt offer it that way. They may however real soon offer an all hd package where you can get most all of the hd channels:confused:

NatGeo is one of my favorites. By itself it's worth the $10/month increase from AT200 to AT250. When you consider that you also get The Science Channel and some others, it's a bargain.

It is a good channel, as is Science Channel, but bargain is the wrong word. A raping is more like it. $10/month extra for the channels that should be in the top 100 (Nat Geo and Science Channel) over the 200 package to get to the 250 is ridiculous. Dish has its channel structure flipped around in so many directions, it is truly all over the place (done so they can make the most $$$ obviously). If they were really the "Top" anything they would go by popularity. What exactly does "top" mean when it comes to Dish? If it went by popularity channels like Fox News would certainly be in the 100 tier.

I bit the bullet and switched to the 250 pack to get the rest of the HD channels (specifically the two you mention) from the 100 pack. I have never felt good about it. My cable provider now offers both in HD, along with everything else I get with Dish (except Voom the sinking ship) so I am going to be dropping Dish soon. I am still in the process of burning all my movies off from the external drive since that will be useless for viewing purposes when I send Dish my boxes back and cancel.

Nope, I never felt good, especially not like I was getting a bargain, for having to shell out so much extra for NatGeo and Science Channel.

I guess one man's raping is another man's bargain. Just like one man's junk is another man's treasure.

Whoa there Sparky! I didn't mean to set anybody off. All I'm saying is that if you're already paying $40+ for AT200, then $50+ for AT250 is a good deal, when you consider how much more in quality programming that you're getting.
