Hih Guys,

I have an HR24 receiver in the living room, a small LCD tv in the kitchen connected with component cables and an old big CRT type tv in the basement that I connected by splitting (RCA cable) the signal for the tv in the kitchen. Everything works great. Now, the Wife is asking how we could get tv in the garage. Without adding another dish for the garage or running wires out to it (it is right beside the house)--which I do not want to do for the few times we would actually watch it, is there any other ways to get a signal out there?? I told her that it probably is too much trouble but would like to know for sure. Is there some new technology "wonder box" I can add to send out a signal to make this happen.

Thanks!!

Depends on how far away your garage is from the house. If you replace your HR24 with a Genie you could then use the C41W wireless Genie Mini with a Wireless Video Bridge to get a signal into your garage. It would all depend on how far, how many walls and what type of walls the signal would need to pass through. The WVB doesn't have to be right next to the Genie but it will need a coax run to it from the dish. And if you aren't using a SWiM setup already then you'd also need that since the Genie works only with SWiM.

Depending on your status as a DIRECTV customer you might get the Genie upgrade and SWiM install (if needed) for free and maybe the C41W, but they will charge you for the WVB. There would also be an increase in your monthly bill for the C41W and the addition of whole home DVR fee. I recommend just calling DIRECTV and ask then what they can do for you pricing this all out.

I have a SWiM dish that I installed and aimed myself 3 yr ago. Garage is 15' away but of course the 2 walls come into play. I'll call them but i really don't want to get into a bigger bill at this point (new baby and other bills). I was hoping that someone would say "buy this box" and you will send the signal out there. Too easy I know.

Get a little TV box...either an android or windows one.....Get a cheap sling box $50 to 100....boom...no extra charge just throw the sling on the TV that would never be used at the same time....

Interesting..............I'll look into a sling box, not exactly sure what it does.

It takes any video and audio signal and transmits it via wifi, and or the internet...Put it on your direct tv box that you wouldnt watch while in garage...If you did, your 2 tv would have to be on the same channel....
I do this as sometimes Im on the back porch, or front, or shed or garage...Signal is there...You can watch on a computer, a smart phone, on vacation, at work....as long as you can get to the internet, you can watch TV...

Sling box and a Chromecast. Mirrors another TV, use rf to control or the app on a phone. Works great.
