FIOS is going live in another two weeks in my area. Was considering trying it out and was wondering if DTV had any sort of deal where I could just suspend my account then cancel after my commitment period is over assuming I want to stay with FIOS. I've been a DTV customer for 2 years and had to sign up for a new 2-year when I got my H20 (about 6 months ago,. so have another 18 months left). Figure if FIOS isn't good, I can just reactivate wtih DTV. Any advice appreciated.

Directv will put your account on "vacation", but lets say you do that now, then you will still have 18 months left, no matter what. There is no way to fast forward through your contract, sorry. But!! if you have leased equipment, then you just send it back and I believe they dont charge you cancellation fees, so you might just want to put your account on vacation, try fios see what you think, and then cancel.

I own all of my equipment, wonder if they'll just let me send it all back and call it even?

With FIOS they come and pull out all the copper wire from the curb to your house. There is no going back to copper.

then why did they reup your contract? you might want to make sure you are put down as owning the recievers, they might have you down as lease on one. Also the Vacation charge I am not sure of, I have heard 5 dollars a month but dont know for sure so I wont comment.
