Abbreviations

What's the deal with abbreviations like W5,104? Is there some some table or lookup to translate this to satellite, frequency, - etc.?

W5 = satellite
104 = channel usually deals with 4DTV

heres a conversion chart of satellites that crosses the real names to 4dtv

That's just old satellite abbreviations from the past. Still used on 4dtv and old timers.
The sats have been renamed or replaced by now. Mainly for 4dtv, you just know the position (degrees west) position by the abbreviation. Not really the satellite's name.

For instance "W-4" we know as amc-4 C-band "X4" we know as amc-4 KU band.

the 4DTV boxes only allow 2 channel designations so that's why (like W4, G4 etc)

Actually, X4 is G4/G16 ku-Band... AMC4 ku-Band is K4 (I think). But, that's all Moot, the Message remains the same. Well Put truckracer...!
