Yes, I saw that. It should be an update for all 1st gen players - A1/XA1/etc. Altho my XA1 works great as it has from day 1, looking forward to this and continued support from the good folks at Toshiba. :up

Do we know if this is supposed to speed up the player boot up times or fix the freezes associated with playing rented HD DVD disks?

The boot up time is probably going to stay relatively slow based on the age of the player and the CPU in use.

The second generation players that use ASICs instead of an embedded linux OS are supposed to boot more rapidly.
