Hi all, this is my first post here. I bought a Traxis DBS 3500 Motorized system from PSB satellite last week and got it all set up.http://www.shop.psbsatellite.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=25&categoryId=1 This has Traxis 3500 receiver, the SG2100 motor, a Winegard DS2076 dish, and a Xtreme II 0.3dB LNBF.

We entered in the IA8 satellite and the proper transponder to pick up a "FEED". It worked great with a 74% signal. Now, this week we are having a hard time picking up anything on this satellite. We have all the channels in the IA6 satellite after an auto-scan.

I believe I have everything set up correctly in terms of motor elevation and dish elevation since we are able to pick up channels on the IA6 and was able to pick up most on the IA8. I am just a little unsure on how to operate the motor correctly.

In the antenna setting page I did have the 22k turned off, with the positioner set to Diseqc 1.2 enabled. This is where the problem occurs I think. Change the satellite from IA6 to IA8 and going down to Sat pos., then "GotoX" just brings up a message saying "Please wait for dish to move" or something. It doesn't do much and I have let it sit for 5 minutes without it ever clearing the message.

After getting frustrated with that, I changed the settings in the Antenna page to: 22K-on, Positioner - Diseqc1.2-off, and then turned on the Diseqc to 1 and left the other options alone or disabled. This however turns off the Diseqc1.2 positioner setting and can't do the "GotoX" anymore.

So, I went to the auto scan page and scanned on the IA8 satellite. It picked up a few, but not anywhere as near as it did the other day. So in a last ditch effort, I just tried to enter the transponders for the ABCNewsNow and ABCNewsOne channels on IA8 and they came in.

Does this mean that my dish is moving to that satellite with the above settings in? And if I want to move off of the IA8 and IA6 satellites to AMC3 or G10 or some other satellite, will it move the dish to those satellites?

I am a little confused and am unsure if the motor is even doing anything for me. When I'm up on the roof I see the dish move when changing things on the receiver. But its not really picking anything up.

Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help. I do eventually want to see what else is out there on other satellites.

WELCOME to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA forum :)

Feeds come and go, one moment there will be many the next none, on the IA-8 satellite there are two channels there all the time.

ABC News NOW and ABC News ONE, use these only when trying point to IA-8 or to check your setup.

When the dish moves if you are not using a LIVE channel or transponder it will always say MOVING....

PLEASE give me a call and I can walk you through EVERYTHING, I also use the Traxis DBS 3500!

I would also use USALS instead of DiSEqC 1.2

The Xtreme II LNBF is a standard so the 22KHz tone should be OFF and the L.O. set to 10750

Thanks for all the welcomes! PSB, I sent you a message. Will check this out more later tonight after work.

Usals is the way to go with your Traxis.

Just point to your True South satellite. Enter in your lat. and long. and away you go.

Alot simpler that 1.2 .

I use usals to get to the sat, then I fine tune with 1.2.

The great thing about the Traxis DBS 3500 is you can nudge the dish EVEN using USALS

Thanks guys! I got it to work properly by setting it to USALS. I am amazed at how simple it is now to change channels and go from one satellite to the next. And you are correct, it gets the dish in the general vicinity of the satellite and you can fine tune it to get closer even though they are close enough. I have been getting 73-79% signal quality with about the same signal strength. Even with the clouds and rain we had yesterday/today.

GREAT! The Traxis DBS 3500 shows slightly lower signal quality than many other receivers (They are all different to each other) So you are getting some great results with your system!

Now the fun really starts!
