Ok.....
so I got the Traxis 2500 and a dish To get Thai TV from IA5
I couldnt get any signal from any satellite...
so my sister had an old LNB from a Dish Network (or maby Direct Tv)system
I put that on the dish and BLAMO!!! I got signal!
now the problem is I get about 40-80% signal strength(depending on the transponder I use)
I thought that would be enough, but when I scan for channels It doesn't find any...
so...
a)what difference does the transponder make?
b)do I have to get 100% before the Traxis finds channels?
c)will a Dish Network or DTV LNB scramble the channels or even work?

each transponder has different channels. So you have to be on the right transponder to get the channel you want
b)do I have to get 100% before the Traxis finds channels?
no....as long as ther is signal quality (not strength), you should be able to get something
c)will a Dish Network or DTV LNB scramble the channels or even work?
not for IA5. There are 2 different types of polarity
-Circular, which is for Dish/Direct/ExpressVu
-Linear, which is for all other satellites.

signal strength doesnt mean anything...its signal quality that matters.
Also, the dish is at least 30" right?

yeah It is the wineguard(sp) 3 footer
so would you recaomend a LNB that is cheap but effective

This problem upsets me greatly as I only want to recieve 1 channel off of 1 satellite
It is not as if I need any thing special.....

I thought you had a LNB that would work for Thai TV?

I was able to scan it in over the weekend, and one thign I noticed is that transponder is a lower signal quality one (around 45-48)...

yea..
well after spending 5 hours on my own trying to get it working, I got a hold of an installer that a friend of a friend knew and he spent 5 hours with this "birddog" meter and couldnt find any signal from any satelite either so he only charged me 20$ and we both decided that the LNB was no good...
so then my sister brought me the one I was telling you about...
I was realy stoked when I got the signal bar tho move
but when I did the channel scan there were no channels....

bummer that the LNB is bad

Really any KU band LNB would work...I would stay away from "universal" ones. They're more harm than good

soo...
1)I need a new LNB
2)I am pretty sure I've got the right satellite tuned in so, I need to get the right transponder I am not too sure how that works and would hate to get every thing set up and get stumped at that part...
I am getting pretty upset at this stupid Traxis system...

Thai TV is on 12177 V 23000
so that is the transponder setup I need to use to access the thai tv channels on IA5?
sorry to be such a pest, but I am so new at all this it is like some crazy foreign language
Does anyone with the Traxis 2500 have this much trouble getting this set up???????
