A few questions about multiple DVRs on America's Everything Pack.

I'm having my new setup put in on Wednesday, consisting of a 522 and a 510.

My question is, since I ordered the America's Everything Pack, does the DVR fee get waived on one reciever or both?

Also, it is with my understanding that the 522 needs to be plugged into a phone line to call in every month. But does the 510?

DVR fee will be wiaved... for both

The 522 needs to be plugged in to report its location and to report any ppv.

plugging the 510 in will allow you to order ppv on that receiver as well and you wont be subject to dish audit department if you leave it plugged in as well. (note that if its unplugged you arent guarunteed to get audited but stand a higher chance)

Good. That pretty much sums up what I was wondering.

Just out of curiosity though, what is this audit?

Basicly if they dont receive a call form x receiver for so long but all the others or none on the acocunt they call the account's phone number and ask someone to read some information like location id and a bunch of other stuff from each receivers sys info screen. if you fail to read one accurately after x (i think 3) tries they terminate service on that receiver. if you say you cant read one off of activated in service receivers they shut down service to the whole account till you can/will do as they ask. And if no one is home youll come home to deactivated receivers.... they are really mean about it... had it happen to a friend.. they called at 2:30 in the afternoon to a house with 1 receiver... hmmm a working person... and they were closed when he got home and he had to take a day off work to get them to reactivate it... its pretty stupid the way they have their hours... im not posting this to scare anyone just fair warning.

there are people that have never hooked their receivers up to a phone line and never been called... its a gamble as i understand it...

I can vouch for his description. Two weeks ago, I got a call to call a special phone number to verify my receivers. As I was on a plane going to a business trip with my wife to CA, I called back and told them I wasn't able to verify my receivers right then but that I would do it on Monday when I returned. They proceeded to disable every receiver on my account except my primary receiver, which WAS hooked up to a phone line (all the others are nowhere near phone jacks). Besides wiping out all the scheduled timer recordings on my receivers, my kids (accompanied by my technological illiterate inlaws) found that they couldn't watch TV that weekend on any set but the main one.

I also had to take time off from work to come home at lunch and get them activated on the Tuesday after I got back from my trip (they wouldn't activate it Monday night as they have banker's hours in that department and I don't get home until 7-9pm most Monday nights). They had me read off my primary receiver ID, software versions, and location IDs and the CSR would then key them into their system. Once the codes were accepted my receivers were enabled again. It was bad timing that they picked the first time that I was out of my house in 6 months to put me through this routine, but since I am technically at fault for violating the terms of service and not having them hooked up to a phone line, my anger and frustration dissipated quickly.....
 
Does DirecTv make you read off numbers on their recievers or are there any such thing as a location id on theirs? Is the only way they can make sure that they are all at the same location is if the phone lines are hooked up? This sounds like a huge hassle.

i havent heard of D* auditing people... but thats my limited experience... however yes them being in a phone line is the only way they can tell that they are in the same place... this is because satellite tv is only 1 way there is no way to get a signal back to D* other than dialup... (well they could give us expensive Directway dishes.)
 

My own conclusion: MPEG4 upgrade will be free.
