Hi Guys- First time poster.

I have had the 922 for about a month now and notice horizontal bands in the picture - does any one else experience this? They have been visible from day 1 and present over composite and HDMI connections. Receiver is set to 1080i.

In general, what are people's thoughts on the picture quality compared to previous receivers - like the 622?

On the 622 I noticed compression artifact but never this "banding".

Thanks!

Were is the horizontal band?
If it is on top only then that is normal as all tv signal has them. Your set is normally overscan to hide the band.

With your very vague description it sounds like you may have a ground loop problem.

First, welcome to Satelliteguys!

Second. I agree with the others it is really hard to tell what you are talking about without a picture.

As far as comparing to other receivers, I actually find the 922 has a slightly better picture than the other E* receivers. I have compared a 922 and a 722k connected to the same TV and running through the same receiver and the difference is minimal but I see it (maybe I'm making myself see it though, who knows...)

The use of the plural "bands" suggests that there are more than one.

My follow-up question would be whether or not the bands move up or down.

I'm not prepared to subscribe to the ground loop problem but we'll have to find out how many bands there are and whether or not they move.

622 reboots when transfering to ehd
