921 - Record from composite?

Okay, I imagine this has been addressed some time back, but ...
I see the composite video INPUTS in the back of the unit. Is that only for signal feed (from VCR, etc.) for VIEWING only or can the DVR actually RECORD the input (meaning it might record any input it has: OTA and cable coax for that matter.)?

From what I understand, the 921 does not have an encoder, and is thus incapable of recording from analog sources.
