How do you like it. Ive seen some good deals on them. Its gonna be awhile, but Id like to add a 1080p when I get my house.

I looked at the Sony's last week(something I am familiar with) but do not know much about the Optoma.

Also wondering if the 1080p will bring much more than the 720p which is MUCH more cheaper.

Is there a good sight I can read up on projectors as I am unfamiliar with them(PQ,sitting distance, etc...)

Thanks

1080p will allow you to sit closer to the screen - helpful when you have a smaller room - and not see the screendoor effect digital PJs create.

I really enjoy my Optoma. It's the best $800 I ever spent on tv. As far as buying a 1080p PJ, I would wait until after the expo in October to see what they release for this fall. 1080p is just becoming affordable, read less than $3K, but there are features and lumens still needed. I would recommend the Optoma of the Mitsubishi HD1000 now and upgrade to 1080p NEXT fall when the prices and features really get good. Your 720p PJ will move easily on ebay or Craigslist and for nearly what you paid! How can you beat that?

I post too much ( :D ) over on AVSForum.com - that's where you can really get overloaded on all the smallest details on PJs. ProjectorCentral.com has some reviews and a calculator for many of the PJs and projectorreviews.com has some reviews that are usually pretty good as well.

Its going to be ATLEAST Summer of 2008 before I buy one because we have to get into a house first. My rental townhome does not have a properly lighted room for a projector, plus my wife would kill me.

Id like to set it up for 10-12ft away, so a720p would be el cheapo after the move, then I can always upgrade later like you said.

Ill check out the other two sites you mentioned(and avs). Thanks

Welll, you know, the big box stores will usually give you a 15 to 30 day return period... just enough time to show her what a big screen can do for her favorite flick.

The Mits and the Optoma work well from a low table top location and from sundown to sunrise, every room is perfect for a projector!

Just call me the projector cupid, spreading projector love wherever I go.

projectorpeople.com and visualapex.com are giving a free 92" screen visualapex is giving free shipping as well. If you register at AVSForum.com and call your order in to either place above, they should give $50 off on top of that.
