811 question with 720p/1080i

I was wondering if you guys change the HD setting on 811 when you watch different HD programming? Do you change it to match the HD broadcast? I like to watch football in HD with my projector, and some games are in 720p, and some are in 1080i. My projector is not native HD, but the internal scaler is excellent. Any suggestions?

The consensus seems to be that watching sports in 720p is better than 1080i as 720p can display the fast motion much better than 1080i.

Umm that's not really what he was asking.

To answer the original question.

Yes most would agree that other scalers are better than the 811 so we set the 811 to match the broadcast. Or when I'm lazy I just leave it at 1080.

is there any way to get the 811 to NOT convert and just output whatever (720p/1080i) it's getting and let my TV do the converting, or would that confuse the TV as I flip channels?

There should be but there isn't......

My PJ is native 720P but I never change my 811, I leave it on 1080i all the time. There is such a small difference in PQ it's not worth the effort to switch back and forth. It would be nice if Dish would ever put a resolution button on the remote to make toggling easier.
