722K Recording Issues

I recently upgraded my receiver to the 722K and 2 days later it rebooted itself and didn't work the same. I am having major issues with recording. I set my default to record on TV2. If I schedule recordings anything that is being recorded on TV2 cannot be stopped. If I hit the stop button, nothing happens. If I hit DVR then choose the program being recorded I do not get the option to stop recording, all I get is delete (if basically looks like it has already finished recording). I cannot swap programming either if 2 programs are being recorded. If I am not recording anything and decide to record something already in progress and hit the record button the prompt asks me if I want to record on TV1 or TV2, if I pick TV1 I cannot change the channel, if I pick TV2 I can change the channel but I cannot stop that recording. I called and explained what was going on to Dish and they sent me another 722K DVR but the issue has stayed the same. Oh, I only have 1 tv in the house, should I have gotten the 612 maybe? I also skipped setting up TV2, maybe I need to set that up. I just want to be able to end a recording if I am currently watching it on TV2.

If you only have 1 TV put that receiver in the single mode. This should help you. Welcome to the site.

If you are in dual mode, the TV2 tuner will only respond to the TV2 remote. So since you only have 1 tv, connect the home distribution to the coax input on the tv and TV1 to a direct connection. Then all you have to do is select antenna input from your tv's remote then use the Dish TV2 remote to control the TV2 tuner.
The way to watch what is being recorded on the TV2 tuner from TV1 is to use the DVR function. Once a program has started recording, you can watch it via the dvr and selecting that program.

You should be able to cancel a recording that is currently in progress by pressing menu then selecting 7-Daily Schedule. All you would need to do is select the show that is recording and select cancel. Also if your receiver is in single mode and you hit the "Swap" button on the remote it will swap you from the TV1 feed to the TV2 feed, without having to connect additional wires to the TV. Once the program that you are recording is on screen you can press the stop button on the remote to stop the recording. If you have any other questions please let me know!

Raymond, I have tried everything. I cannot cancel or stop a recording on TV2, I have tried from DVR and then selecting the show and I have tried from Menu, 7. The problem is it does not give the option to stop recording. In fact if you go into a previously recorded program what you see as choices are the choices that are given to me during recording. With my previous DVR I never had a problem changing channels, this new DVR sometimes decides to record on TV1 and then I'm stuck and can't change the channel. I have set up the system again, I have restarted, I have tried everything. I think I will have to call Dish and have them send out a technician. I am thinking the 612 for a single TV might work better since it is specifically for a one TV household. I have read that the 722K has had issues for a long time, maybe they aren't worked out.

Stardust3 - I have no idea how to put my receiver in single mode. Is it difficult?

dwarren2 - I am even more confused - I never thought of myself as technically challenged but I'm not quite sure what you are telling me to try. I only have 1 TV and only 1 remote.

Thanks for the replies, I will try anything at this point.

Inside the right hand door of your 722 is a button that says mode on it.If in dual mode a blue led will be lit,if in single it will be amber.Press the mode button to change from dual to single.

Teehar - it worked. I was taping a program and watching another, it was taping on TV2 and I checked and couldn't cancel recording. As soon as I changed it to single I went back in and it can be cancelled. What an easy fix and to think that Dish Technical doesn't know this when I call in. Very strange. I so appreciate all of the help I got. I am reserving judgement just in case. Will report later if it still works. Yay!!!
